So apparently feminism is a hate movement. I’m sorry I don’t remember any feminists going on any shooting sprees because they were rejected by men or sending death and rape threats to blogger who pointed out sexism in video games.
I am a women and a feminist but I’m afraid I have to disagree with you.
Despite our movement’s motto of fighting for equality for women, feminists have shown to be rather hateful people by:
Besides, even though there has not been any killings yet, there are some radical feminists who have beaten people up before, and sent death and rape threats to fellow feminists as well. As for Anita, whom I’m assumed that’s who you’re talking about, she said that Mirror’s Edge was too hard for women and only kills/hurts female NPCs in games even though you can hurt/kill male NPCs as well. I don’t trust a person who says that we women are too dumb to play Mirror’s Edge or only kills/hurts female NPCs in games.
The problem with our movement is that most people in this movement refuses to accept constructive criticism, even from their own members, like I’m doing right now. All those, and more which I cannot think of at the moment, are proofs that our movement is turning to hate movement, and this cannot go on. We have to steer our movement back on the right path.
OP clearly hasn’t done her research because if she did she’d know a feminist nearly killed Andy Warhol. She shot him and the only reason she didn’t take a killing second shot was because her gun jammed. Oh you wanna know the kicker?
She wrote the fucking SCUM Manifesto, which is still taught in women’s studies courses today.
And don’t even get me fucking started on FEMEN.
Pull your head out of your ass, OP.
1. Elliot Rodger was not, and never was, an MRA. He wasn’t a PUA. He was a bi-racial British-Asian man with serious mental issues, including literal Aspergers, which he had stopped going to therapy for. He killed and injured more men than women, and specifically targeted them as well. If you’re implying that the SPLC called the MRM a hate group, nope, they never did that either, making you 0 for 2.
2. Pro-Gamergate folks have also been sent death threats and harassment, with one claiming that he lost his job because he started #notYourShield. A woman was kicked out of a con in Canada, and banned from cons across Canada, for politely criticizing feminism in a panel, with the permission of the panelists. Her entire group was kicked out. Then, when they had a meetup in a nearby park, the con called the cops on the Honey Badgers.
And can I just talk about the fact that Sarkeesian still made a fuss about a death threat she got for one talk, without mentioning that the authorities found it to be non-credible, and has spent more effort self-martyring than working on her videos, while Gamergate got a bomb threat the authorities did find credible?
Moreover, death threats are sadly common on the internet for anyone with the slightest significant bit of prominence. Have you noticed how Anita has basically never admitted that there’s any valid criticism of her? Weird.
3. This entire argument is nonsense. You’re assuming that critics of feminism fit a stereotype of yours, then whining about them for tumblr points. @feminismisahatemovement has a perfectly fine Ask, assuming you’re not too scared to use it.
EDIT: Fixed typo in first point.
